Once upon a time there was an old oak tree... The seasons change, but the inhabitants remain the same: the nimble squirrel, the colorful weevils, the noisy jays, the tireless ants and many other creatures. They all find refuge, shelter and a home in this majestic tree. The oak looks like a tenement in nature, where the neighbors bicker and celebrate with each other. There are animal concerts, dramatic natural disasters and action-packed car chases. Le Chêne (Heart of Oak) is a sensual journey into a wonderfully vibrant world
Award-winning directors Laurent Charbonnier and Michel Seydoux have produced a nature film that celebrates the magnificence of this tree without requiring any voice-over
Le Chêne (Heart of Oak) celebrated its world premiere in the Berlinale Special section of the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival in 2022
This event is part of This City is a Forest – an exhibition of photographs of trees by photographer Savannah van der Niet. Savannah has curated a small selection of events that help us learn about and reconnect with nature. See more about the exhibition here
