Moments of Multitude: an exploration into the varied visuals of memory, movement, and music through abstraction.
This showing will contain selected works from the artist's In a Single Moment and Abstract Expressions collections. Despite the majority of our present being dominated by the immediacy of visual inputs, our memories are most often triggered by the more abstract senses, such as sound, resulting in a multi-faceted recollection of emotion and imagery. We are prompted to think not only of the source of the sound and its implicit performance, but also the variations of memories we contextualize alongside it.
These works take complementary approaches to this theme. In a Single Moment's pieces use visual experiences of sound such as concert films, movie musicals, and music videos, to portray the simultaneous performance, experience, and associated memories in one abstracted image with endless significances to be found. On the other hand, in the Abstract Expression series each piece is developed with the intentional isolation of a feeling, memory, or theme in order to develop an experimental and expressive color palette as a confrontation of the artist's vulnerabilities.
In an effort to enrich the experiences of her visitors, Katarina has arranged a series of events and workshops during her exhibition. Each one complements the artists’ works by engaging the senses in a variety of media. See below for a list of events and their respective hosts:
