For seven days the works of Oto Kazumi Tanimoto & a o t o / t o m o m i will be available to view and purchase from Backhaus Projects. From the hyper textural and absurdist world of Oto to the intricate brush work from Tomomi, both artists present a vibrant and playful body of work displayed for the first time in Berlin. Often printed and produced on various homewares & textiles, the show offers a glimpse into both the artists practice around accessible forms of wearables and decorative pieces for the home, mind and body.
Oto kazumi tanimoto lives and works in Tokyo,Japan. She studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art, BA Fashion Print. Her work combines vibrant colours and a variety of media, including mainly illustration, print design and textile-based visual art. A winner of 39th Annual Awards of The Choice illustration in 2022.
a o t o / t o m o m i Tomomi lives and works in Leipzig, Germany. She studied at Joshibi University of Art and Design in Tokyo, Japan. BA in Fashion and Performance. Currently studying Jewelry/Textile Arts at Burg Giebichenstein in Halle. Using techniques like knitting and textiles, her works include the capturing of momentary scenes in daily life, along with poetry and words.
