This City is a Forest

  • Backhaus Projects 168 Weserstr. Berlin, BE, 12045 Germany (map)

In urban space, a connection to the natural world seems less possible. Through noticing, learning, and developing language for the nature surrounding us, we open a pathway to connection.

This City is a Forest is an exhibition of tree portraits by photographer Savannah van der Niet—taken primarily in Berlin, with some from Scotland, Australia, Spain, Slovenia and Italy, over the last four years. The images are a story of discovering and a process of personal grounding in a city. Through learning about the trees, from dendrochronology to mythology and communication, we can learn lessons of how to communicate, of climate history and future, and of our place in the natural world.

Vernissage 29.09., 18-22h.
Exhibition continues 30.09.-06.10., 12-18h.
